Speaking of HIV, Annie Lennox appeared at the RockNRoll Hall of Fame show wearing a T-shirt that said HIV Positive on the front, and sang Chain Of Fools with Aretha, which was great, but she never did anything of her own, most notably, Why. This, of course, left me feeling hollow and unfulfilled, unlike WFUV, which always comes through in the clinch. Fill me up, yo... Gil Scott-Heron’s The Revolution Will Not Be Televised…hands down the best rap about The Struggle, ever.

Then there's Lou Reed's "What's Good" - although I think it was about the loss of his friend to cancer, it's a song that really captures grief (along with the entire feel of that album "Magic and Loss.") My request for the day is Annie Lennox song Sing off the Songs of Mass Destruction album. A beautiful, soulful, heartfelt and passionate song about women in Africa dealing with the AIDS crisis.
