    Here’s a challenge for you…

“Saturday Night in the World” – Mason Williams

It’s instrumental, but a beautiful little piece!

  2. Morten on December 16th, 2009

I don’t like Monday’s by the Boomtown Rats

  3. Tom on December 16th, 2009

Tuesdays Gone by Lynyrd Skynyrd. I remember this song playing on the radio on 9/11/01, as we watched the smoke from the Trade Center blowing. The song took on a whole new meaning after that.

Please make my day and find room on your playlist for what is, in my opinion, perhaps the finest live interpretation ever of a blues classic: Stormy Monday, performed by the Allman Brothers during their legendary Fillmore East concerts.

It’s about 8 minutes long, but presents irrefutable proof of Duane’s blues chops.

Thanks, and have a great day.

I’ll try to keep the list brief – My first 2 choices cover all days of the week for safety!!

First one that popped into my head? 8 Days a Week!! – The Beatles (of course!)

Rainy Days and Mondays (omg! – The Carpenters)

    Ruby Tuesday – Rolling Stones

Any Given Thursday (album by John Mayer) – sorry, don’t think Thursday is actually mentioned

Get ‘Em Out by Friday – Genesis

Saturday Night’s Alright – Elton John
Another Saturday Night – Cat Stevens Version would be a change of pace – can go with Sam Cooke or Jimmy Buffet – your choice!

Sunday Morning Coming Down – Johnny Cash or Kris Kristofferson

    Whew!!

  31. Kim on December 16th, 2009

How about the theme from “Happy Days?” That has Thursday in it!

  32. Chris on December 16th, 2009

And as apropos, this song has ‘em all: “Wednesday” from the original cast recording of “Bright Lights, Big City

Otherwise I can’t think of a song with all the days of the week but I have thought of these truncated ones, which maybe will count:

“Friday On My Mind” by the New Beats and on the soundtrack of the movie “Pirate Radio” and also covered by David Bowie
“Monday Monday” by the Mamas and Papas
    “Manic Monday” by The Bangles
“Eight days a Week” by the Beatles
    “Wednesday Morning” Simon & Garfunkel

  33. John on December 16th, 2009

    Thursday afternoon – Indigo Girls

(or Brian Eno, if you’ve got an hour)

  34. Bin on December 16th, 2009

First, thanks for that Dawes song yesterday. Tasty morsel of lo-fi roots pop. My pick for today is an obvious song, “Friday I’m in Love” by The Cure. Problem is I don’t particularly like it. Luckily, Seth Davis has a really nice, stripped-down, folky cover that put it in a whole new light for me. Could you play his version?

  35. Dan on December 16th, 2009

The Killingtons – “Thursday” – I forget which record it was on…

  36. Sean on December 16th, 2009

On a Sunday by Seanchai and the Unity Squad. You will never play that! Welcome home Claudia!

Morphine’s “Thursday” on Cure for Pain.

  39. Alisa on December 16th, 2009

you just played David Bowie and I realized there’s a David Bowie version of
    Thursday’s Child!

That rounds out my previously sent selections for today!

  40. Brian on December 16th, 2009

Saturday – “Saturday’s Child” by The Monkees (great song)

Sunday – “Pleasant Valley Sunday” by the Monkees

Monday – “Rainy Days and Monday (always get me down)” – The Carpenters (not sure if this is on “If I was a Carpenter” album)

    “I Don’t Like Monday’s” – Boomtown Rats

    Tuesday – ?

    Wednesday – ?

    Thursday – ?

Friday – “Friday” by Joe Jackson from I’m The Man

I’d have more if I had access to my iTunes library on my home computer.

What was yesterday’s question? “Gone With The Wind” at 70?

    Have a good DAY!
